The Good Life
Living The Good Life dream, Stephen and I have spent a prolific weekend of self sufficiency, foraging for elderflowers, potting out tomatoes and beans, home brewing, and experimental DIY.
We’ve started brewing Elderflower Champagne, from this River Cottage recipe. Home grown produce, and brewing, are both firsts for me, so I’m very excited to eat and drink the results!

Inspired by these colourful ‘Before and After’ paint jobs on Design*Sponge, I’m turning my hand to giving some second hand picture frames a new lease of life. I’ve been craving a bit of colour in our new(ish) rented home, which is lovely, but a little neutral for my taste.
I bought a selection of frames from the local carboot sale, (paying no more than £1 a frame!) I then masked off the glass with masking tape, and sanded down the frames:

I then painted them with an undercoat of wood primer:

…and have now started painting on the first coat of C O L O U R! I’m using a lovely deep teal/turquiose colour, navy, gold, and fluorescent orange! I’m trying masking off sections, as I want to try and create some 3D graphic effects. I’m not quite sure what the final results will be, but am enjoying just having a bit of a play at the mo.

I’m also in the process of making changes and improvements to my website, which I’ve been thinking about/planning this weekend. Exciting!
Hope you had a great weekend too!
Got something to say?
